Today we welcome guest blogger, Regina Heater!
It's popular to talk about what we're doing for Lent -- we commiserate with our friends who have given up chocolate or coffee, we admire our friends who choose daily Mass or extra prayer time -- but we don't often delve deeper into the whys behind our Lenten practices. The purpose of a Lenten practice -- whether it's giving something up or adding something on -- is to help make space for God within ourselves and within our communities in a new way. In the words of Sister Joan Chittister, OSB, "Lent is about becoming, doing, changing, whatever it is that is blocking the fullness of life in us right now."
What do you want to become in the next 40 days? What seeds are you planting that can bloom in the next 40 days? What are you anticipating will change in your life and in your relationship with God between now and Easter? What is your "Lenticipation"?
Growing, changing, becoming and blooming is hard work -- you're not alone! To help guide and encourage us along the way, we'll be posting images every Sunday and Wednesday on this page, and sharing them through social media (A Nun's Life on Facebook and Twitter). Be sure to check-in, share the images with your friends and communities, and tell us how your #Lenticipation is going!
